She took the biggest gamble in her career trajectory when she made the decision to pursue interior design despite having a background in personnel management, thanks to a master's degree in it. However, nothing could stop Interior designer Jagruti Kothawade from pursuing her passion, she knew she had to do something about this newfound love. With her never die attitude and determination, today, she is the proud owner of her very own namesake interior design studio in Pune, India, taking up spectacular interior design projects, both in the residential and commercial arena.
Her work as an interior designer and decorator is much appreciated
Born and raised in Nashik, Maharashtra, she made the decision to pursue a course in 3D Max V-Ray. After which, she got a golden opportunity to work at Joseph Louis Design, a multidisciplinary design studio for 5 years. But why interior design? What drew her to this field among all the others? She always perceived interior design to be an excellent creative profession while also being very interesting. Therefore, after taking up a course in interior design, she grabbed the first opportunity, an individual project to design the interiors for a residential apartment. On its completion, her work was much appreciated and as a result, she received about five wonderful references and this was just the beginning of what would be a successful career in interior design. Winning many accolades from her clients, she knew she was on the right career track, but when she became the recipient of the prestigious Rashtriya Mahila Gaurav Puraskar in 2018, it was the ultimate validation that she was born to interior design.
She strongly believes in resource deployment, supervision of site and regular visits
It was the year 2011 when she opened Jagruti Design Studio in Pune City and has since made it her life's goal to create beautiful commercial and residential spaces. As one who has achieved great success in her field, she credits BNI (Business Network International) in helping her make her career dreams come true through the power of networking and references. Today, her studio designs apartments, flats, bungalows and rowhouses in the residential sphere, and everything from salons and spas, to corporate offices, gyms, clinics in the commercial. The secret to the studio's success has always been paying close attention to the needs of their clients, keeping close attention to their values, lifestyle, and aesthetics to ensure that their vision is fulfilled. Beginning with designing the layout and creating a plan of execution, her team go through an intensive structural, electrical, plumbing analysis to complement furniture detailing, lighting, interior décor, and ambiance which is so important. However, one of the most important aspects of their execution is resource deployment; supervision of site and regular visits to make sure quality is always at par. These are just some of the constituents that bring success at the end of her projects.
"Success to me is being happy, no matter where you are."
Owning her own design studio has been a great stepping stone in her journey. However, seldom does success arrive without its own share of challenges and she, like many, experienced the struggles of being a woman entrepreneur and balancing one's professional and personal life. However, a disciplined approached to her profession along with time management ensured a fine balance between the two domains. Also, having received recognition from the Indian Women Convention in 2018 and Women Achiever Awards & Recognition in Mumbai for Women Entrepreneur in Interior Designs and Landscaping category, she believes that "success to me is being happy, no matter where you are." As someone who calls herself a self-motivated learner, as an interior designer and decorator she is always open to feedback from her clients so that the business is always evolving to better cater to their desires and needs.
Her role models are Indra Nooyi and Priyanka Chopra
In addition to this, she also participated in the Diva Mrs. West India 2018 and got crowned with Diva Mrs. Talented West India in the talent series which was another feather in her cap. Some of her biggest milestones have been working on interior projects for Tata Asset Management, Prabhat Road; the Action Coach Office, Koregaon Park, and the Action Coach Office, Swargate. Ask her about her role models and she is always quick to mention the corporate heavyweight Indra Nooyi and Indian homegrown talent Priyanka Chopra. As someone who always lives by the adage that one should "Never Give up without Fight," she is a living testimony to it and advises fellow women professionals to "never mix your personal and Professional life; you cannot give the right justice to both otherwise."
